Social Media Overload

Anyone feeling overwhelmed by all of the social networking sites? With Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Youtube, how do you manage all of these different accounts? Aah I can look back to early 2000′s with fondness as I created a site, added meta tags, asked some friends to link to it and you were pretty much done. Now as a digital artist in order to compete you need to participate on the web on numerous sites. Get friends, followers, subscribers, eehgad. Do I have enough time in the day? Will people want to sub, am I doing enough. Here’s what I’ve learned. Tenacity and a good schedule help.
- If you can put aside an hour a day to participate on all of your sites.
- comment on others work, good and bad.
- set up a gravatar account so your image/brand will appear in comments.
- when you fall off, pick yourself up and start participating again.
Myself I’ve let LinkedIn go yet participate fairly regularly on facebook and twitter.
The positive side of all this: You actually get a chance for a large number of people to see your work. Good luck.
