Facebook unleashed it’s new layout. Unfortunately it’s so much like twitter the two are blending their features:

1.homepage login.

2.timeline in twitter like friend’s updates on the right

3.Lists, just like twitter you can create Lists on Facebook.

4.Notification of stories like twitter’s new tweets alert.

5. Icon, picture next to username in top right.

Very similar.. is LinkedIn next?

Design your Facebook Fan page

Design your Facebook Fan page

Tired of your current Facebook fan page but not sure how to style it just right?  Forget about trying to develop the code and frustrating attempts at customizing.  Use Pagemodo and easily develop an eye catching fan page.  With Pagemodo you can stand out from your competitors which chances are they have a boring Facebook page.  Just click thru to the free templates and follow the button prompts thru each part of your new page.  My only suggestion, have about six images that you are ready to use, as well as your text for each section.  Hmm. which is why my page isn’t pagemodo’d out yet.

Wanted to emphasize again to do it now! I mean register your domain – (passion) build your blog/website and start participating.  Now’s the time.  In this week’s video I also talk about one of our customer’s MJSuberStudio.  Melissa Suber manages her online presence there.  She has worked in the animation industry (Disney, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon) for over 10 years and is an accomplished fine artist.  You can also follow her on Twitter.

Social Media Overload

Anyone feeling overwhelmed by all of the social networking sites?  With Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Youtube, how do you manage all of these different accounts?  Aah I can look back to early 2000′s with fondness as I created a site, added meta tags, asked some friends to link to it and you were pretty much done.  Now as a digital artist in order to compete you need to participate on the web on numerous sites.  Get friends, followers, subscribers, eehgad.  Do I have enough time in the day?  Will people want to sub, am I doing enough.  Here’s what I’ve learned.  Tenacity and a good schedule help.

  1. If you can put aside an hour a day to participate on all of your sites.
  2. comment on others work, good and bad.
  3. set up a gravatar account so your image/brand will appear in comments.
  4. when you fall off, pick yourself up and start participating again.

Myself I’ve let LinkedIn go yet participate fairly regularly on facebook and twitter.
The positive side of all this:  You actually get a chance for a large number of people to see your work.  Good luck.
