Digital Media TV: Episode 3 Tweetdeck is Valuable.

// February 21st, 2010 // No Comments » // Social Media, Tech

I am still enthusiastic about twitter. Better late than never. But one tool that helps me with all of my social media accounts is tweetdeck. Tweetdeck has a great interface that lists columns of: all friends, mentions, new followers, and searches. It works very well with twitpic and youtube videos. If you don’t have it download it now, it’s free. Keep participating.

Digital Media TV: Episode 2

Wanted to emphasize again to do it now! I mean register your domain – (passion) build your blog/website and start participating.  Now’s the time.  In this week’s video I also talk about one of our customer’s MJSuberStudio.  Melissa Suber manages her online presence there.  She has worked in the animation industry (Disney, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon) for over 10 years and is an accomplished fine artist.  You can also follow her on Twitter.

Social Media Overload

Anyone feeling overwhelmed by all of the social networking sites?  With Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Youtube, how do you manage all of these different accounts?  Aah I can look back to early 2000’s with fondness as I created a site, added meta tags, asked some friends to link to it and you were pretty much done.  Now as a digital artist in order to compete you need to participate on the web on numerous sites.  Get friends, followers, subscribers, eehgad.  Do I have enough time in the day?  Will people want to sub, am I doing enough.  Here’s what I’ve learned.  Tenacity and a good schedule help.

  1. If you can put aside an hour a day to participate on all of your sites.
  2. comment on others work, good and bad.
  3. set up a gravatar account so your image/brand will appear in comments.
  4. when you fall off, pick yourself up and start participating again.

Myself I’ve let LinkedIn go yet participate fairly regularly on facebook and twitter.
The positive side of all this:  You actually get a chance for a large number of people to see your work.  Good luck.

Welcome. New Look. New Attitude.

If you’ve visited this blog before, thank you. You are probably thinking what happened? As a digital artist you can’t underestimate 2.0 and social networking. I know I have for far too long just depended on my website Rigler Digital. No more. This blog will hopefully reflect the enthusiasm I have for all of the different software we use: Cinema4D, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Dreamweaver and last but not least After Effects. On the last version of the blog there had been 6 months between some posts, yea not good and not happening this time. So I hope you will subscribe now if you are new and find the posts here full of info and entertaining. To recap from our last podcast I had discussed PhotoshopDisasters and C4Dload. PhotoshopDisasters on blogspot is a great place to visit when you need to take a break from your current project and laugh. You can’t believe that this work gets approved and printed – on a very large, commercial scale. My own theory with these sites is that you can learn from others mistakes.
C4dload is from a Twitter success. The creators of c4dload found the RiglerDigital Twitter page and continue to post about their new site. It originates from Germany by Milan Herzog. Yes if you speak and write German the site is best. However, they are working very hard to make the English translation a success. I myself registered on the site and am looking forward to new tutorials and new discussions in the forum. It’s fun to participate in new sites –kind of like new blogs.
