Top 3 Blog Directories.

// March 21st, 2010 // 2 Comments » // Social Media, Tech

I don't own one of these. . .yet.

I don't own one of these. . .yet.

After try/fail on several different blog directories. I have come up with the top 3 that will actually help you get your blog noticed.

1. BlogCatalog. Hands down the best blog directory. You can login and list as many blogs as you like. They also integrate your twitter feed into your recent activity feed. BlogCatalog offers an option to follow other blogs and leave comments within the sidebar. It’s nice to see the comments and know that people are following your blog. Feedburner stats just fall short sometimes, don’t they?

2. Blogged. They give you a rating right away yes. 7. something or other -very good. Hmm yes instant feedback “thank you it is good isn’t it”. They also, like blogcatalog, show which people are following you and how many have viewed your blog. If you click on their icon you can follow back. It’s a clean and easy directory to navigate.

3. BlogFlux. This is your standard blog directory with listings of different categories A-Z. They do offer themes for your blog and stat tracking which can help.

Which blog directory should you be on? Well, as many as you can, but these are my top three for now. Things change so fast.

Digital Media TV: Episode 3 Tweetdeck is Valuable.

// February 21st, 2010 // No Comments » // Social Media, Tech

I am still enthusiastic about twitter. Better late than never. But one tool that helps me with all of my social media accounts is tweetdeck. Tweetdeck has a great interface that lists columns of: all friends, mentions, new followers, and searches. It works very well with twitpic and youtube videos. If you don’t have it download it now, it’s free. Keep participating.

Wanted to emphasize again to do it now! I mean register your domain – (passion) build your blog/website and start participating.  Now’s the time.  In this week’s video I also talk about one of our customer’s MJSuberStudio.  Melissa Suber manages her online presence there.  She has worked in the animation industry (Disney, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon) for over 10 years and is an accomplished fine artist.  You can also follow her on Twitter.

3 Easy Steps to Register a Domain Name.

// January 6th, 2010 // No Comments » // Social Media, Web, domain registration

Happy New Year.  2010 is here and we are not living in a space station somewhere.  Or for that matter we are not driving rocket ships to work ala The Jetsons.  However, we do have amazing technologies developing with the internet mobile apps and broadband.  Isn’t the new year the best time to register your business name or latest passion.  I thought I would start the new year off right with a shameless plug for 3 easy steps to register a domain name with Rigler Digital.

Step 1:  Type in the name you want in the search box.

Step One in registering a domain name.

Step 2: Choose the TLD (top-level domain) you want.  For example:  .com .net .tv and more…

Choosing the correct top level domain TLD.

Step 3: Fill out your proper contact  info.

Now you can register your dreams and have a successful 2010.

More than just a website. Social Media required.

Social Media Sitestwitterbutton-0101
I’ve blogged about it before but it has become a deafening noise on the internet.  Your social media status.  Work is key.  You can’t just blog a few articles and then think “hey how come I’m not making any money from my Google adsense account?”  The work called for is participation and sincerity. Truly care about your followers.  RT @ back atcha.  Give an honest opinion/voice.  I would say be open and be yourself.  Have you tweeted today, thanked a follower, written on yours or anyone’s wall.  Get crackin, life’s short. Joomlashack University Opens it’s Doors.

joomlashack_university

We are supporters of the Joomla Content Management System.  One of the best places on the web to learn more about Joomla is Joomlashack.  They have books and online tutorials and have re-opened enrollment to Joomlashack University.  They offer video screencasts, questions answered in forum by Joomla experts.  There is a 6-month subscription available for $147.  Not too shabby.  I actually like Barrie North’s book “Joomla: A User’s Guide”.  The site without the subscription is a resource.  Joomlashack itself has numerous templates to help you solve your clients needs.  The benefit again of a CMS it your clients can make smaller changes themselves, changing text adding new photos.  Blogs also are on the same CMS type interface.

Domain tip of the week:  Put the product name you are selling in the domain name.  This will help with search engines.
for example: www.radios4sale.com if you were selling radios.

Rigler Digital Promo made with iMovie.

// November 15th, 2009 // No Comments » // Final Cut Pro, Social Media

I needed an intel based Mac to work on some mobile applications so I bought a new one.   What I didn’t expect was what a powerful program the iMovie 09 is.  With iMovie 09 there are many more transitions and title options.  The event library gives it a familiar feel to the browser in Final Cut Pro.  Also, you are able to choose themes with animated graphics, comics, globes and travel theme for all of your travel videos.

Armed with this new program.  I created our Rigler Digital Domain Registration Web Hosting Promo.  Enjoy.

Rigler Digital Domains and Hosting

When I started blogging again this year; I made a firm resolution to blog consistently, listing sites to give insight into digital work.  Unfortunately, I fell off the blogging wagon – hard.  Shavaun and I have re-tooled our main site Rigler Digital to promote our hosting and domain registration services.  As artists we continue to design websites, and do animation for the web but our main focus will lie in hosting and domains.

Tips for registering your domain keep it short.  Instead of registering mymegahugebusinesscompany.com try baboo.com or something short.  It can be nonsensical.  For artists, use your name in the domain.  Think of it as a way of branding yourself and artwork.  Don’t be shy.  Of course then promotion begins on all of the sites like facebook, twitter, and youtube.

iPhone the Good, the Bad, the Beautiful.

// October 19th, 2009 // No Comments » // Flash, Social Media

I did it.  I finally purchased an iPhone, yes web browsing full tilt, Apps galore, good times.  Yea they are awesome, it’s like holding a micro apple computer.  I have to be mobile to keep in touch with my customers and Apple just made it easier.  They have a larger screen and typface for sending quick e-mails.  The web browser is worth every penny, especially if you need to check on your youtube videos.  The touch screen is slick, with an aqua type interface.

Okay the bad. . . It’s the battery – jeesh, it just uses up it’s power so quickly.  You need to charge it at least twice a day, no seriously.
